Rubber balls and elastomers are used for their properties of sealing, shock damping and specific chemical resistance. Each material has a clean temperature range and chemical resistance: silicone covers -60 at +200 °C, Viton® resists hydrocarbons and acids, NBR is suitable for mineral oils. The choice of Shore A hardness conditions the opening pressure by applying valves.
