Hollow plastic billets

Hollow plastic balls are commonly used in petrochemicals as they float above liquids. They allow, placed in swimming pools, to limit evaporation, protect from the air or the sun, contain fumes and conserve heat. They reduce up to 75% of heat loss, 87% of evaporation and 98% of atmospheric pollution. They are made of polypropylene PP, low density polyethylene PEBD, high density polyethylene PEHD or polyfluoride of vinylidene PVDF. These balls are made from two half welded spheres. They have a joint and are not rectified. Their thickness ranges from 0.70 to 1.20 mm.
Floating plastic ball
Hollow plastic balls, often called floating balls or hollow spheres, are actually widely used in the petrochemical industry, especially for their physical properties and versatility.
Their low density allows them to float on the surface of liquids (such as hydrocarbons, wastewater or chemicals). They limit the evaporation of volatile liquids (such as gasoline or solvents), thereby reducing losses and VOC emissions (volatile organic compounds). They act as a physical barrier against contamination, dust or oxidation. They reduce heat exchange between the liquid and the environment, maintaining a stable temperature. Despite their reduced weight, they are resistant to many chemicals and temperature variations.
In crude oil, gasoline or chemical storage tanks, to minimize evaporation losses. In settling ponds or sewage treatment plants, to prevent crustal formation or algal proliferation. In liquid-liquid separation processes (e.g. water/oil), they help maintain a clean interface. By limiting contact between the liquid and air, they reduce the spread of odours.
Cost: Less expensive than mechanical coverage systems or floating membranes. Easy to install: Simply spread on the surface, without the need for complex structure. Reusable: May be recovered, cleaned and reused.
