Made from polymer resin, plastic precision beads are lighter than steel and stainless steel beads or ceramic beads. Very resistant they are generally used in computers, manufacturing wheels, ball bearings... There are a multitude of plastics including polyamide (also called PA or Nylon) polyacetal (POM, Hostaform or Delrin), polypropylene (PP or Hosten), polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE or Teflon) and polyurethane (PUR or Vulkollan) which are the most frequently marketed materials.

Materials

The choice of the synthetic material of the balls is made according to the physical and mechanical properties sought. The latter are detailed below, but the list of proposed substances is not exhaustive because when the quantity justifies it, special manufactures are possible in many other materials.

Standard diameters

Plastic balls are usually made from diameter 2 mm to diameter 80 mm but can be produced on request from diameter 1 mm to diameter 300 mm. Below you will find the list of standard diameters generally in stock and their unit weight.

Tolerances

The tolerances of plastic balls are not comparable to those of metal balls or other hard balls. They are much less accurate and their tolerances are shown in a separate table below.

More information

Plastic Bills: Lightness and Resistance

Praised for their lightness and strength, plastic balls are an undeniable choice in various sectors of industry. Whether in the construction of computers, the manufacture of ball bearings, the automotive or agri-food industry, they are omnipresent. What exactly are we talking about? This guide brings you everything you need to know about plastic balls.

Manufacture of plastic balls

Precision plastic balls are made from polymer resin. This material gives them unique characteristics that distinguish them from steel, stainless steel or ceramic beads. In fact, they are lighter, making their use more practical and ergonomic.

Several materials for different uses

Whatever your industry, you will find the type of plastic ball that meets your needs. There is a variety of plastic materials for the manufacture of balls. Polyamide, polyacetal, polypropylene, polyurethane and polytetrafluorethylene are included. It depends on the physical and mechanical properties you are looking for for for your products.

Available materials

Polyamide (PA or Nylon): resistant and flexible. Polyacetal (POM, Hostaform or Delrin): resistant to wear and humidity. Polypropylene (PP or Hostalen): rigid and resistant to high temperatures. Polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE or Teflon): non-sticky and resistant to high temperatures. Polyurethane (PUR or Vulkollan): elastic and abrasion resistant.

Choose the right size for your plastic balls

Plastic balls also vary in size. The usual diameters are between 2 mm and 80 mm. However, depending on your specificities, it is possible to produce balls of different diameters.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are there plastic balls of different colours? Yes, we offer a wide range of colours.
Are plastic balls environmentally friendly? Yes, it is possible to use recyclable materials for plastic balls.
What is the production time for plastic balls? This may vary depending on your order.

It should be noted that the tolerances of plastic balls are different from those of metal balls or other hard balls. They are less precise but always within acceptable limits to ensure a high level of performance. For more information on tolerances, see our dedicated table.
