Rolling steel balls are intended for high-load mechanical applications, contact fatigue resistance and pressure lubrication. The AISI 52100 (100Cr6) steel is the world reference for precision ball bearings. The shades combined with chromium-manganese and chromium-molybdenum complete this family for penetration requirements of soaking, abrasive wear resistance or operating at slightly high temperatures.
